First-Life Energy Storage System

GOLDBECK Firmenlogo in dunkler Schrift

Goldbeck develops forward-looking real estate projects in Europe. The company views buildings as products and offers its clients a full range of services under one roof: from design and construction to operational services. Guided by its “Building Excellence” philosophy, the family-owned company develops real estate projects cost-effectively, quickly, and sustainably, ensuring they are perfectly tailored to their intended functions.

Goldbeck is a partner to small and medium-sized businesses, large corporations, investors, project developers, and public sector clients. Its range of services includes logistics and industrial facilities, parking garages, office and school buildings, sports facilities, emergency and security buildings, and residential buildings. In addition, Goldbeck is active in the field of data center construction. Revitalization projects and building-related services round out the company’s portfolio. In fiscal year 2024/25, the company completed approximately 600 projects with a total value of 6.3 billion euros. Goldbeck currently employs approximately 14,000 people at over 100 locations throughout Europe. For more information, visit www.goldbeck.de.

GOLDBECK Süd GmbH, based in Ulm, is responsible for business operations in southern Germany and was the client for this project.

DENKINGER is the end customer and operator of the facility. The family-run logistics company based in Ehingen combines transportation, warehousing, and contract logistics with a strong focus on energy and sustainability. This is exactly where the storage facility comes in.

Our services

Self-generated electricity is rarely available when it’s needed. A battery storage system shifts this energy to the time of consumption. This turns generated electricity into predictable, usable electricity. This project focuses on optimizing self-consumption. The stored energy is used entirely on-site. No electricity is fed into the grid.

First-Life Storage Units for Outdoor Installation

At the logistics warehouse site in Salgen, we have installed and commissioned three individual energy storage units. The systems are located outdoors and are designed for long-term outdoor use. Each storage unit provides 314 kWh of capacity and 125 kW of power. This adds up to a total of 942 kWh and 375 kW. The system is thus tailored to the energy flows of a commercial logistics operation. An integrated energy management system handles the control functions. Following a successful Site Acceptance Test (SAT), the system went into operation as scheduled.

Applications

  • Optimizing Self-Consumption – Self-generated electricity is stored and used on-site as needed.
  • No grid feed-in —all the energy remains within the facility. This makes energy consumption more predictable and reduces dependence on external sources.

All-in complete system

We don’t just supply storage systems. We implement turnkey energy solutions. From delivery and installation to commissioning, the entire project was handled by a single provider. We have fully completed the integration of the energy management system. The successful acceptance test confirms that the system is operating as planned. The outdoor installation, in particular, demonstrates that our solutions function reliably even under real-world environmental conditions.

The Storage Solutions of the Future

With this project, we are consistently advancing our efforts in the field of commercial first-life battery storage. We combine proven storage technology with sophisticated system integration. The result is an energy solution that pays off—it’s cost-effective, predictable, and designed for long-term operation.
