Application story: Product development based on the Netx 90

Protocol converter BiSS Safety 24V > PROFINET/PROFIsafe
For the development of our own product, we opted for the world’s smallest multi-protocol chip from Hilscher Gesellschaft für Systemautomation mbH, the netX 90.
The requirements for the desired product solution were clear to the customer from the wind energy sector:
Two encoders of a wind turbine provided their data via a BiSS Safety interface, while the higher-level control system expected the measurement data to be provided via PROFINET and PROFIsafe.
In a record time of just nine months, we developed our certified and production-ready product, the BiSS Safety 24V protocol converter > PROFINET/PROFIsafe. The protocol converter supplies two BiSS Safety sensors with 24 volts and reliably reads their values. The resulting data, based on the netX 90, is made available to the safety controller via PROFINET/PROFIsafe.
