Servus Intralogistics GmbH, Dornbirn (AT)

Hello, Robots! The new generation of logistics

SERVUS Logo mit blauem Symbol und Schriftzug

Servus Intralogistics GmbH is based in Dornbirn, Austria. The company is part of the Heron Group and specializes in tailor-made intralogistics solutions.

Our services

Servus ARCs (Autonomous Robotic Carriers) are small mobile units in the warehouse system and are currently conquering the warehouses and production areas of many companies. Whatever the autonomously operating swarm robots are used for, they adapt to their task and deliver a lot of savings potential. In short: they supply the picking stations and production lines with material. The decentralized nature of the system virtually eliminates downtime in the warehouse system.

Details

  • The vehicle and controls of the Servus ARCs must remain unchanged
  • Charger must still be usable (despite different cell chemistry)
  • Mechanical housing with simple insertion mechanism
  • Correct calculation of the State of Health (capacity)
  • Accurate calculation of the state of charge down to 0.5
  • Intelligent control of the battery monitor and the protective circuit
  • Updating via HP battery charger must be possible
  • bidirectional communication between battery and HP battery charger (for updates and checks)

New battery technology, unchanged environment.

The main focus of the redesign is on the new control card with the integrated BMS. It must function simultaneously with 12S1P and 12S2P packs and improve performance, service life and charge cycle. Alexander Müller, CTO of the ebs group, explains: “We have managed to adapt a fundamentally different lithium technology (LiFePo4) to a more suitable lithium technology (NMC). And we did this without having to change the existing infrastructure of the charger, vehicle control system, etc.”

The battery technology for the transport systems has been trimmed for longevity. The batteries of the Servus ARCs are now able to monitor themselves precisely, optimize their efficiency, e.g. through deep sleep phases, and display the exact state of charge. The new features make the battery more efficient by maximizing the charging cycles during operation and minimizing self-discharge during breaks.

Monitored values:

  • Battery voltage (mV)
  • Cell voltage of each individual cell (mV)
  • Cell voltage difference (mV)
  • Charging current (mA)
  • Discharge current (mA)
  • Internal impedance of the pack (mΩ)
  • Temperature (°C)
  • SoC (%)
  • Number of battery cycles
  • Capacity (mAh)

Configurable values:

  • Charging current (mA)
  • Maximum temperature during charging (°C)
  • Maximum temperature during discharge (°C)
  • SoC (%)
  • Discharge cut-off voltage (mV)
  • Equalizing voltage, capacitance, V-difference
  • Max. Current protection (mA)
  • Max. Voltage protection (mV)
  • Max. permissible cell voltage difference (mV)
  • Reserve energy (mAh)

Mobile transportation robots and systems.

Servus ARCs (Autonomous Robotic Carrier) transport robots are one of many ways [VM1] to make the industrial sector more productive with mobile solutions. In many companies, self-propelled forklifts and tractors – so-called driverless transport systems (AGVs) – are also gradually automating logistics. They increase the efficiency, speed and cost-effectiveness of a company and reduce the error rate at the same time. Win-win. The only important thing is that an automated guided vehicle system moves flexibly and works reliably. Both are ensured by our lithium batteries, which are responsible for driving the transport robots.

What we can do for AGVs

  • Make transport robots safer (e.g. with a metal housing)
  • Sufficient energy even with heavy loads
  • Improved efficiency thanks to lithium technology and BMS
  • Small, compact and lightweight batteries
  • Optimum power density and high safety
